Cape Fear Guide reports yesterday’s fishing charter at Bald Island Island was put on a two hour delay because of the severe thunder storms,0nce the storm passed,the sun came out it actually became a beautiful day.The passing of the thunder storms must have turned the red drum bite on the first two cast yielded slot size red fish.Weather here in the Cape Fear Region has really been unsettle due to all the thunder storms coming up from the south. Raining again this morning at Wrightsville Beach & Carolina Beaches with pouring rain in the Southport & Bald Head Island Beaches,weather is supposed to clear for the weekend.

NC Red Drum

NC red drum bite here in the Cape Fear Region is not an all day event but we are catching red drum on 99% of our inshore charters.Yesterday we were scheduled to leave at 1:00 PM but a thunder storm hit Carolina Beach,NC right about the time we were supposed to pull out.I suggest we just give it an hour to blow over,sure enough it passed on to the north.

Clear skies moved in after the much needed rain,turned out to be a beautiful afternoon to fish.Gary Scott and his wife both caught slot size red drum.Ride back on Cape Fear River was really nice late yesterday afternoon around 7:30 PM.I have an open date on Tuesday 28TH,Friday, July 1rst of this week give me a call at 910-619-0928 to set up your next inshore charter in the backwaters of the Cape Fear River.

Big red drum are being caught in the backwaters of the Cape Fear River,Guy Gruber caught this over the slot size red drum fishing with Capt.Mike Dennis on June10,2011. This large red drum hit an 8? live menhaden on a Carolina Rig,really hard fighting fish on light tackle.

Inshore fishing for flounder & red drum was descent yesterday bite was a little slow while the tide was still rising with just a few flounders biting around noon,also caught a 29 1/2″ red drum around 12:15 along with a few blues. Red drum bite picked up around 4:00 PM with several slot size reds boated over all a descent day of inshore fishing with the Cape Fear Guide.

Flounder,Red Drum & Speckle trout are biting in the backwaters of the Cape Fear River,live menhaden on carolina rigs are the best bait going right now.Inshore fishing is still a little slow this season,but that’s just fishing,we fished hard this morning managed to catch a large speckle trout,which we had to release,season is closed on speckle trout till June 15Th. Dale from Mississippi caught bluefish red drum & speckle trout, we were ethical fishermen for releasing the speckle trout,he stated that he really enjoyed the fishing experience in the backwaters of the Cape Fear River.Give the Cape Fear Guide a call at 910-619-0928 to set up your next inshore charter.

Red drum have begun to bite in the backwaters of the lower Cape Fear Fear river,flounders are hitting the live bait too ! Fishing has been slow this year but with the arrival of Memorial Day Weekend I expect the fishing is going to turn on.

NC Fall fishing is here, temperatures have been cooler at night since the big rain storm has passed,the red drum bite,has been consistent with some days being exceptional.
