7-15 Carolina Explorer Report: We are catching Redfish, Flounder, Spanish, Sharks, Trout, and Various other species!! Come on down and enjoy some great summer fishing action!!

Well, it has been a long delay in reports due to a heavy fishing schedule. I took a afternoon off, to sit in the a/c and catch up on paperwork and fishing reports.  So here we go… Inshore the action has been good on the not so hot days.  We are catching the reds  on the flats, sight casting gulp shrimp, top water plugs, and crank baits.  We have been catching some over-slot reds in the deeper channels when conditions allow.  Fishing with live mullet, mud minnows, or pogeys has been working best for the reds.  The flounder bite has been steady in the inlets and waterways.  We are also catching plenty of them on the near-shore reefs along with a few grey trout.  Live mullet, mud minnows, or pogeys have been producing the flatfish.  Off the beach we have been catching plenty of spanish mackerel, blues, and big sharks.  Trolling clark spoons has been the best bet for the  spanish and blues, chasing the shrimp boats has been the routine for catching sharks.  All this action takes place close to shore and is a blast on light spinning tackle. A beautiful sunrise at Carolina Beach. I was checking the sea conditions and looking for the shrimpboats.  I had to take this picture.  What a nice way to start the day.

The McCrae Crew with a nice catch of flounder.  The ladies bottom fished for action and caught plenty of sea bass, ring tails, and various others.

Emma with a nice over slot redfish.

Jason with a 34inch red.

The Setterland family with a nice catch of spanish mackerel.

Ritchie with a nice redfish he sight casted to in the flats. Lots of fun on light tackle. One of several he landed.

The Attwel family with a great catch of spanish mackerel and flounder. Lots of family fun. Three generations having a great time fishing together.

Riley and her family fished with me for two days.  We had a blast catching flounder, trout, and a few reds. It is always fun to see kids grow up fishing. Next year, I swear, she will be a foot taller. Time flys and it makes me feel older.

Jerry hooked up on a nice Shark. Look at that rod bend.  Plenty of drag burning fun.

A closer look at one of several sharks landed by Jerry and his crew.

Nice Grey trout caught by Mrs. Anderson. One of several landed on this trip.  A long with flounder, croakers, blues and whatever else bit their hooks.

Double redfish by Bill and Matt. Lots of fun on the flats sight casting to reds on this trip. Nothing gets your heart pumping like reds in 10 inches of water.

Tony with a red caught on a gulp shrimp.  After a few casting lessons, he caught some nice reds on the flats.

Bob with a nice 32inch red, over slot, caught on a gulp shrimp.  We double on the same school at the same time. One of several reds he landed this day. Nothing is better than seeing two fish in the net at once.

The Burden family with a nice afternoon catch of spanish mackerel. Lots of family fun. These kids were excited to have fresh fish for dinner.

Sunrise on the flats hunting redfish. This is my good friend Ken looking for reds in the fore ground.  It never hurts to have good friends on the water, the more eyes the better. We have shared several schools of fish in the past, and I look foward to sharing more in the future. Thanks again.

We are catching fish and having lots of fun on every trip.  It is hot, but the temps. are always cooler on the water. Come on down and enjoy some late summer action on the flats or in the ocean, we have you covered. I will try to post another report before the end of the month. Give me a call and book your trip today 910-264-1807!!!
