Fishing Report Gulf Stream 6-11-2016

I had Frank, John, Brian, Matt and Quinten for a gulf stream trip. The weather and ride out was beautiful and we started in around 120 feet looking for some scamps but no current and only a couple shorts. Started running off shore and found a current line with some life and decided to troll. It didn’t take long when the short rigger started screaming and Quinten landed a nice 22 lb wahoo. We had great action on decent mahi gaffers for a couple hours. Then we moved to some ledges to start jigging and fishing with bait. The 1st drift Frank landed a giant 25 lb gag on a jig. Then the next a 20 lb scamp. He caught 5 grouper in 5 drifts all on jigs. The guys using pinfish quickly switched over to jigs. We had good action on AJs and Almacocs also. The winds picked up in the afternoon and made the drifts tough. We trolled for the last hour and had another Mahi and Blackfin and missed a couple more. Had a long wet rough ride home in a hard SW wind but worth the pain with plenty of meat in the boxes.
