Fishing Report Deep Jigging 11-14 & 15-2010

It has been a while thanks to the weather but had a 2 day window to get off shore. Sami, Brian, Burt, David and Jose made the trip down from NY. Day #1 headed to the south in a NE swell but a nice ride. The action started slow but picked up in the morning. The problem was when we found the AJs the sharks found them every time. We hooked a few good fish but couldn’t get them to the boat. Started catching some nice Black fin and worked on tuna most of the day. Also had a couple decent Mahi on top water. At the end of the day the AJs decided to eat and we had OK action late in the afternoon. We did manage to hook 3 grouper that all turned into lunch for the sharks. Ended the day with a full fish box with 12 Black fin, 2 Mahi and 2 Kings. Day #2 headed to the north looking for the AJs but slow once again. We did start picking up a couple of fish a drift but all were around 30 lbs. Decided to work our way south again and hits a few ledges on the way. Had a couple more Black fin before moving in to a wreck in 100 feet to try top water. It only took a few drifts and we had AJs chase the poppers but missed the hooks. We had a big fish hooked on the jig but no stopping him from getting into the wreck. We landed a couple nice Almacos before running back in flat seas.
