Live Line Fishing Report 4-19-2009

Had a group from NJ on Sunday. We wanted to goo offshore deep jigging but the weather forecast just wouldn’t allow it so we tried to do some inshore jigging inside 40 miles. Started at a 25 mile wreck to see if the smaller AJs had moved in yet. No AJs but plenty of 10 plus lb Blue fish. Decide to try for some bottom fish and moved out 33 miles. Caught a nice king on a light line and short Red groupers but not a lot of action. The winds/seas still not bad so we ran to the tower to try for some kings. Tried to get a few Jacks around the tower and hooked a couple but not very aggressive. Jigged up some live cigars and started slow trolling. We had all 5 lives go off but turned out to be large Blue fish rather than kings. Move off shore a little and started finally getting some king bites. Had 3 nice fish but the current was ripping so the kings were not very thick. Worked hard all day but needed to get further off shore for better action. The weatherman was no help.
