- Inshore, Near Shore, Offshore: Good Fishing in Northeastern, NC - Posted to Rod-Man Charters Fishing Report by Capt. Rick Bennett
Hi Folks,
Wet weather aside, fishing has been really good this week. The flounder bite and the red drum bite have been very good. Inshore, near shore, offshore and Gulfstream fishing have all been producing good catches. Now here is my report:
INSHORE: The flounder bite on live bait and artificials has been very good. The same can be said for reds. Generally, the flounder have been good on the rising tide and the reds have been good on the falling tide. Live.. The fishing is heating up, we are starting to see some nice flounder showing up around the Carolina Beach Inlet and the Cape Fear River. We are catching most of the fish using live baits. If bait is hard to find the 3 inch Gulp Alive Pearl White Shrimp works really well on a 1/4 oz gig head. We are occasionally catching some nice red fish around the docks while trying to catch the flounder.
Right off the beach some really nice blue fish, spanish and some big seabass are being caught while fishing the reefs. Just remember you can’t keep any seabass until June 1st.

The weather took a turn for the worse with 15 mph SE winds so making to the drop was out of the question. Decided to try some inshore spots for top water AJs and headed out 20 miles. There was a 3 to 4 ft chop but Jon made the 1st cast with the popper and immediately got skied by a 15 lb King Mackerel which cut off the mono but the plug floated with 6 AJs swimming circles around the popper. We retrieved the popper and it didn't take long to start hooking AJs on poppers. Joey and.. (Read More)- 5-11 CarolinaExplorer Report: The inshore fishing is great. Redfish, Trout, and Flounder are biting, Inshore slams are possible on every trip!!!!! - Posted to Carolina Explorer Charters Fishing Report by Capt. Robert Schoonmaker
Inshore the fishing has been great. The redfish are biting jigs, topwater, and natural baits. Strike king and D.O.A minnows on 3/8 jigs are producing most of the fish. We are picking up trout and flounder on these lures as well. If you want to kick-back and relax the fish are more than willing to bite shrimp or live minnows fished on a cork or bottom rig. If you are looking for some great inshore fishing action, now is the time to call 910-264-1807 and book your trip today!!
Off the coast the fishing has been heating up as well. We are catching.. (Read More)- Summer Weather and Great fishing around Wrightsville! - Posted to Captain Jot Owens Fishing Report by Captain Jot Owens
Summer has really been showing its face around here lately and with the warm air comes more bait and more means more fish to catch! I’ve seen a big change in water temps in the last few days, the waters around Wrightsville Beach are hanging around 78` inshore; it will not be long before we are swimming! The warm water has really brought out the bait fish, which is always a good thing for fishing!
The Spanish mackerel and Bluefish are really starting showing just off the beaches.. (Read More)- Seahawk Inshore Fishing Report 5/1/12 May Fishing can be Awesome!!! - Posted to Seahawk Charters Fishing Report by Wbfishing.com Press
April is normally a transition month and the inshore fishing can be up and down in the Cape Fear area. That is typically how it goes and things usually turn around in May. So I am really looking forward to a little more consistency and the arrival of more and larger inshore species. Redfish, speckled trout, flounder, sheephead, large and small bluefish and a few more inshore fish will be available as we get into the month of May. I can make inshore saltwater fishing for all of these species simple and fun for all ages and skill levels,.. (Read More)- COLD WATER FISHING ! - Posted to Corona Daze Fishing Reports by Capt. Our fishing trips out of Wrightsville and Carolina Beach have been doing awesome. We are still having a awesome time with the 30-100 lb sharks and have had many half days that caught sharks until they could physically not do it any longer! We are catching them on cut bait or dead bait trolled mid water column and are also sight casting to the schools of them that are feeding heavily on by-catch. We just increased our heavier spinning tackle to 60 lb Spider Wire Stealth braided line to handle these beasts! If you have never sight casted.. Greetings from Hieronymus Fishing Charters!
The weather is warm and the red drum are chewing very well. We are also seeing nice numbers of flounder in the Wrightsville area and in the Cape Fear River. The Kings are close enough to fight nice size fish and still see the beach, not to mention the nice size spanish mackerel. A few miles farther(7-10mi) the mahi bite has been a great icing on the cake.
Let's go fishing

The beautiful thing about the Carolina coast, is that there is always a fish that you can catch. Right now, it is grouper time. Along with Grouper, there are snapper, Black Sea Bass, and Grunts to be caught. IF you find the fish it can be non-stop action all day. The best thing about it is that all of those fish also make great table fare. The Striped Bass are also biting well this time of the year, and they can provide a fun, hard fight. Book your summer trips now, and gurantee your spot.
