The fishing is excellent and will get even better after this weather system pushes out! Mark and I ran out today to scout out some new areas and to fish some old ones. The day started off with the luck in the fishes favor. Mark hooked up with another big trout that waved its big tail at us and then spit the hook as it came closer to the boat! After that I saw a big wake coming directly towards the boat as it got about 40 feet away I tossed the Gulp! jerk bait right on its head! What a bummer, it doesnt get any easier that and I messed it up big time! We dusted off the bad luck and laughed about it and moved on. The next spot we came to had a few fish pushing the surface. Mark tied on a top water lure and instantly hooked up with a nice slot red. They are AWESOME on top water! I power poled down and followed up with a Gulp! shrimp and picked up two more slot sized reds. At this point the wind was picking up and we decided to leave with luck back in our favor. Today I field tested some of Fenwicks HMG 7′ spin cast rods. These rods are awesome. They are light weight and can be fished all day with ease. The action was super smooth and they had great casting distance due to the Fugi new concept guide placement. I will be fishing these quite a bit and highly reccomend them.
