August Fishing

Hi Folks,
Sorry it has been so long since my last report. I have been happily busy with building and repairing fishing rods for customers…mixed in with a few fishing trips. The weather has been hot hot hot and on some days so have the fish. Now here’s my report:
Inshore: There have been nice catches of reds and flounder inshore, mostly on bait, but some artificial action is happening too. The falling tide seems to be working best.
Near Shore: Spanish macks and some small kings are keeping trollers busy. We are having a good flounder bite on the near shore artificial reefs. Some bull drum are mixed in on the reefs.
Offshore: Good mahi action with kings and barracuda mixed in the 20 mile plus areas. Live bait, ballyhoo or cigar minnows…choose your weapon.
Gulfstream: Some wahoo, lots of mahi and good numbers of billfish are there for those who venture far out.
Cape Fear River: Good fishing for reds, flounder and trout is happening in the river.
Upcoming: Don’t know about you but I am looking forward to some cooler weather. In this heat look for fish to be deeper and you need to slow your lures and baits down.
Until Next Time…LET’S GO FISHING!!!
