PRE STORM REPORT

Hi Folks
Southeaster NC is breathing a sigh of relief mostly because Irma has shifted west. Cannot let our guard down and now have to pray for those still in her path. Ocean will still see some large waves. It’s in the high 50’s here and the smell of fall is in the air. It’s time to catch some fish! Now here is my report:
Inshore: Waters are heavily saturated with the rainwater we have had almost all summer. Makes inshore fishing harder. Reds, flounder and some trout are biting, but you have to be patient and hunt for them. Live finger mullet are plentiful for bait or you can try your favorite artificial.
Near Shore: Spanish mackerel and some nice kings are biting when its not too rough. The ocean flounder bite on jigging bucktails is good.
Offshore: More king mackerel and some mahi are biting live and dead baits.
Gulf Stream: I have no reports.
Cape Fear River: Reds, flounder and trout are biting, but again, you have to hunt for them.
Upcoming: Fall Fishing!!! Look for the waters to clear, hopefully soon, and cooler temps will make the fish more active. Looking for a good red bite, a better flounder bite and an even better trout bite in the weeks to come.
UNTIL NEXT TIME!!! LET’S GO FISHING!!!
