Rod-Man Report February 14, 2007 (mid-winter report)

rod-man-with-red-and-trout-in-fl.jpgHi Folks,
Guys, and gals, don’t forget the date!!!
Well, we are half way through the boat show and fishing school season and that much closer to spring fishing. Water temperatures are in the low 50’s and that is good for this time of year. I am hoping for an early spring.
I was fortunate to spend 8 wonderful days fishing in Florida last month. We caught reds, trout, flounder, snook, pompano and ladyfish…all on GULP jerk baits and medium light tackle.
My wife and I met many nice new friends at the Greensboro and Raleigh Boat Shows. Last weekend, my Raleigh Fishing School was a big success. This weekend I will be going to the International Rodbuilders Expo in High Point; hopefully to get some new rod building ideas and plenty of rod building components.

My Wilmington Fishing School is set for March 3 and there are still plenty of seats open. Breakfast, lunch, door prizes and lots of fishing information…for details please visit: Wilmington Fishing School
I just put the Rod-Man back in the water. She has a new trolling motor this year, which will add new possibilities to your fishing. Some other nice changes have been made too. I hope to have a new pic up soon.
As to be expected, fishing is a bit slow right now. Some stripers are being caught in the Cape Fear River. Dogfish and black sea bass are biting on the nearshore reefs. Grouper are biting in the 20-40 mile range.
Spring fishing is just around the corner. Don’t miss out on my annual spring special. Check it out at: Spring Fishing Special
That’s all for now…but things will be heating up soon.Let’s Go Fishing!!!
