Trying to get Back to Normal

Hi Folks,
Finally dared to venture out 2 weeks after the big rain (12+ inches locally). After some fruitless searching we found some hungry red drum. We were fishing in the waterway near Wrightsville Beach with live poagies on Carolina rigs. Me and my buddy Stuart had five fish and we thought that was a good day. Kept two and cleaned them and ate fish that night. YUM!
INSHORE: I am getting some reports of small trout, but I think that will improve greatly soon. Flounder are biting at the inlets and as I said above there are red drum to be had.
NEAR SHORE: Large schools of menhaden are patrolling the beach and attracting plenty of fish; primarily Spanish, kings and blues.
OFFSHORE: King mackerel and false albacore are the main attractions.
GULF STREAM: Wahoo, some mahi and blackfin tuna are biting for the boats making the trip in the persistent NE wind.
CAPE FEAR RIVER: The river is still messed up from all the rain. Hopefully it will clear some soon and give us a good later fall fishing run.
Until Next Time…LET’S GO FISHING!!!
