Seahawk Inshore Fishing Report 05/04/2015 Spring Fishing Report Redfish, Black Drum, Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, Few Flounder, Speckled Trout, and Sheephead.

The inshore, nearshore, and backwater fishing is really starting to kick in. Water temps are up, bait is showing up, and spring has finally sprung.. We are still waiting for a few more species to move in and pretty soon we will have a variety of fish to pursue on the lower Cape Fear.

We are catching good numbers of Black Drum, and a few Redfish fishing dead shrimp on shelly bottoms around low tide. We are also picking up a few Reds and Black Drum fishing shrimp on float rigs around oyster points at the higher stages of the tides. The reds are schooled up on the flats and starting to hit topwater plugs and other artificials. The shallow water sightfishing for redfish should be good when winds are light. We are starting to pick up a flounder or two and the flounder fishing should be getting better as we get into mid May. Spanish Mackerel and bluefish are here in good numbers and a few sheephead are starting to show up. May and June is typically good months to pick up some nice speckled trout in the Cape Fear river, and the creeks and bays around Bald Head Island.

Thanks for reading the report and check out the photos from the past few weeks.

Thanks,
Capt. Jeff and Christian Wolfe
