Christmas and Winter Fishing Report
As we approach the end of 2020, we’re all ready for a new year to begin. It’s been a challenging year, but Christmas is here and we’re hopeful that 2021 will be less stressful. Despite a few tough weeks earlier in the year, we’ve had another successful fishing season and had the opportunity to spend time with some of our favorite people – our customers. We couldn’t be more grateful to you all.
The fishing this year has been pretty good, with some great days and a few slower ones as well – that’s just part of the game. We’ve met many new customers and had the chance to fish with long-time friends as well. We hope you had as much fun as we did. The best part of our job is that we get to spend time with so many wonderful people while doing what we love. That’s what keeps us going.
Now for some fishing updates: November and December have had some excellent fishing, with lots of redfish, trout, and black drum being caught. Some of the best trips of the year happen during the colder months, and although we’re about to experience the coldest weather of the year, that doesn’t always mean the fishing slows down. January and February can bring some very cold weather, but we also sometimes get milder days with highs around 50 degrees and light winds. Redfish will be our main target for the next couple of months, but we may also see some good trout and black drum bites. The size of the redfish tends to be smaller during the winter, with most fish in the 2lb range (16″-17″), but we may also catch some larger slot fish. We’ll mostly be casting for redfish and trout with scented artificials like Gulp or Zman on light jig heads. When it gets really cold or the wind is not cooperating, we may switch to using minnows or dead shrimp on the bottom. If you don’t mind the cold, it should be worth the time and money spent. With double-digit catch days always a possibility, the next couple of months shouldn’t be overlooked.
We hope everyone has a great Christmas and a happy new year. We’ll continue to work hard to make your fishing experiences with us the best they can be. We appreciate everything you’ve done for us and we can’t wait to see what 2021 has in store. Just remember to book early if you’re planning on fishing with us next year. You can text, call, or book through email – whichever works best for you. With more people than ever participating in outdoor activities, bookings will fill up quickly. We’ll see you next year!
