Winter Fishing Report
It’s that time of year again – Christmas is here, and we can’t believe how quickly 2019 has passed. At Seahawk Inshore Fishing Charters, we feel grateful to have had the opportunity to do what we love and work in the fishing industry. This year has been a success, and we’ve been fortunate to have the best customers and friends anyone could ask for. As we enter our 14th year of business, we hope and pray to continue building on what we’ve already achieved. One of the best parts of our job is when new customers become friends.
Winter is a great time to go fishing with us, especially when it comes to catching a high number of fish. December has been fantastic for redfish, with some days yielding up to 80 fish. It may be hard to believe, but when you find a good school, the numbers can really add up. Most of the fish we’re finding are in the 16-18″ range, but some 23-26″ fish may also be present in the schools. If the weather cooperates, we expect this trend to continue through the next couple of months. If you don’t mind the colder temperatures, you can have a lot of fun and potentially catch 30-40+ fish in a single trip. Redfish will be the main species we target through February, but we may also encounter speckled trout and black drum. Gulp shrimp on 1/8 oz or 3/16 oz hooks tend to work well this time of year, but if the fishing gets tough, we can use pieces of dead shrimp to catch redfish and black drum. In general, though, scented soft plastics are the way to go.
We hope you enjoyed this brief winter fishing report and preview for the rest of the season. Don’t forget that our $300 winter rates will end in March. We’d like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the amazing customers and friends we’ve had the pleasure of meeting this year. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. We wish you and your families all the best and pray that God will bless you.
Merry Christmas,
The Seahawk Bunch
