CarolinaExplorer 5-5-2014 Fishing Report:) The fishing is great, lots of spanish mackerel, bluefish, atlantic bonito, red drum, black drum, and trout. Spring fishing is here!!!

Hello everyone,

We have had lots of great days on the water inshore fishing over the past month. The red drum are transitioning from the winter haunts to the summer feeding stations. We are catching them on live bait, mud minnows and shrimp, as well as lures. Gulp shrimp on 1/4 oz jig heads and spinner baits when the water is dirty. The fish are starting to look up for food so the top water bite will progressively get better.  A few stray flounder have been caught when chasing the reds. There are speckled trout hanging around, but since we cant keep one until June 15, I have not been targeting them. If you want to catch and release trout, give me a call, we will have a blast. We have also caught several reds on the fly as well. No matter how you want to catch them, give me a call 910-264-1807, I will put you on the fish!!

Just off the beach we have had a awesome bite of spanish mackerel, bluefish, and atlantic bonito. Lots of great sight casting action. I have not trolled all year. We have used jigs and spoons to catch these hard fighing and great tasting fish. The pics speack for themselves. Please approach the fish at a slow pace and keep a good  distance from breaking fish. This will keep them feeding and enable  everyone to catch plenty of fish. If you run over the fish and make too much noise, the fish will vacate the premisise. Slow, steady, and patience will fill everyones cooler with fish. Lots of fun and excitement = a great day on the water.  Give me a call at 910-264-1807 to book your trip.
