CarolinaExplorer 5-13-2014 fishing report: We are catching Red drum, Black drum, Trout, Spanish mackerel, Blues, and Bonito. Great fishing Action is Here!!!

Hello everyone,

We have had some great fishing over the past few weeks. Inshore we have been catching red drum on 1/4 jigs with gulp or strike king minnows. We have also seen a few fish take interest in top water plugs as well. The old stand by mud minnow/shrimp on a carolina rig or float rig has been producing fish as well. We have also landed some black drum and sheepshead inshore while fishing for the reds. There are a few trout hanging around, but we can not keep one until june 15. Great inshore action in the calm waters of the Cape Fear river, Give me a call and book your trip today 910-264-1807!!

Just off the coast we have had great catches of Spanish mackerel, blues, and bonito. We have been casting spoon into surface feeding fish and had a blast. When they are not on top we have had great catches trolling as well. The flounder and grey trout will be showing up over the next few weeks. Had a great experience with a school of giant black drum. We landed several fish in the 70lb range and plenty in the 25lb to 40lb range. I would not count on seeing this ever trip, but you just don’t know what will swim by while you are on the water.  Now is the time to plan you Summer fishing trips, Give me a call at 910-264-1807 and book your trip today!!
