Fishing Report Deep Jigging Day #1 9-24-2010

Had Paul, Ray, Ben and Shirmen down again from NY for 2 days of jigging in NC. Day #1 we went to the north and started in 280 feet. The 1st drift 1st jig in the water was a hook up. We had great action all morning with multipe hook ups with decent fish. The drift was fast but hooked fish for 1 mile on the drift. There were plenty of big Alamcos and good AJs. We had 2 fish over 50 inches. The ocean went flat later in the morning and the guys were worn out by the afternoon so we decided to troll in a few miles to try for grouper. Ben caught a nice gaffer Mahi on the troll. Had a couple shots at grouper but missed them. Ben did catch a 5 lb Lion fish. Ended the day trying for top water AJs but no takers.
