REDS and BLACKS CHOMPING!

sean-and-wolfgang-nice-black-drum-april-10-2010.jpgHi Folks,

Fishing is really turning on! We had one morning catching numerous reds and several others catching numerous very nice blacks. Word from the Roth Sea Temp guys is there is a big push of warm water heading our way and should be here by late this week.  The inshore sea weed is vanishing fast and spring fishing is happening now.
Here’s my report:

Inshore: Redfish and black drum are chomping. Best bait is fresh shrimp cut into 1? pieces and fished on a carolina rig with a #2 wide bend hook. Most of the reds are shorts, under the required 18?, but still a lot of fun on light tackle. The blacks are running 3-5 pounds and can give you all the fight you want.

Near Shore: Bluefish are starting to show up and the bonito should be right behind them…possibly this weekend with the warm water mentioned above. Plenty of nice sea bass and ring tales biting at the near shore reefs.

Offshore: Lots of false albacore here today gone tomorrow and then back again. A few bonito are mixed in with the albies. kings are still 35-40 miles out but should be moving closer soon.

Gulfstream: Tuna and wahoo make up the big bite in the stream. Some mahi and a sailfish here and there round out the great spring fishing in the gulfstream.

Upcoming: We are only days, maybe tomorrow away from the ocean exploding with fish. We just need another degree or two. Spanish mackerel should be here in about 2 weeks or maybe less.
This is my final mention of the up-coming Rod-Man “In the Water” Fishing School being held June 5 and 6. There are still seats available for the one day classroom, one day fishing Rod-Man School. Learn everything you need to know about the what, when, where and how of inshore fishing….then go out on the water and practice what you have learned. Door prizes, good food and fun…guaranteed. For more info check out http://www.rodmancharters.com/inthewater-fishing-school.htm and we hope to see you there!

Until next time…
